Enrichment Skills Classes

Ages 6-12

Our afternoon enrichment classes are designed to to inspire within each child a deep reverence and love for creating as they learn new skills and grow in self-confidence. With a focus on whole-child development, these classes invite students into meaningful work that blends creativity, craftsmanship, and connection to the natural world.

Projects often center around handwork, woodworking, and other practical skills. Each project typically spans 3–4 weeks, giving children the time and space to fully engage with the process and develop a deeper understanding of the skill at hand.

Our offerings are often inspired by the interests and curiosities of our Wild Explorers students, though we warmly welcome suggestions from others. We’re also always looking for skilled craftspeople who have a special talent or tradition they’d like to share with our students. If that sounds like you, we’d love to hear from you!

We prioritize the use of natural, high-quality materials such as wool, beeswax, and items found in nature. Depending on the season and the project, students may even forage for some of their own materials. All finished work is theirs to keep and treasure.

We offer seasonal (fall and spring) Enrichment Skills classes on Monday afternoons at our Glendale location and Wednesday afternoons in Clarkson. Projects will vary based on location, the ages of enrolled students, and seasonal themes. Wild Explorers families receive $15 off each project (sibling discounts do not apply).

A Few Benefits of Handwork:

  • Grows fine motor skills, strengthens concentration and hand-eye-brain coordination- these are all necessary skills for handwriting, drawing, and other activities that require dexterity
  • Develops patience and persistence
  • The repetitive nature of handwork is calming to even the most active of brains
  • Encourages self-confidence and appreciation for the arts
  • Develops mathematical awareness through counting and problem solving
  • Promotes practical life skills- such as following directions, listening, solving problems, patience, and more!
