Who We Are

Little Garden School began in 2020 as a full time nature-based preschool. In 2022 we moved from Colorado to Kentucky where Little Garden School has grown into what it is today. We're thankful for an incredible community that has welcomed and supported all we do! 


Our nature-based, Forest + Farm School model is the first and only program of its kind in Grayson County. We're grateful for the opportunity to pave the way for outdoor education and alternative programs in our community. 


We've seen friendships blossom, self-confidence grow, and curiosity flourish as we connect with nature, through play and exploration. Our classes are hands-on, often times muddy and messy, and are life-giving to both the children and caregivers that attend. 

Our Mission

Little Garden School exists to nurture the whole child through building a connection to nature while encouraging imaginative, creative play that will not only enrich the child's life in the present but will be a firm foundation as they grow. 

What is Forest School?

Forest School originated as an early childhood education model in Europe in the 1950's and since has grown in popularity around the world and in the United States. It is a child-centered, alternative education model that takes place almost entirely outdoors. Whatever the weather, children are encouraged to play, explore, and learn in a natural setting. Through supported risk taking and age- appropriate responsibility children develop confidence and self-esteem. 

A Whole Child Approach

Instead of a checklist of standards, we aim to nurture the holistic development of each child in our programs through these five values that together form a circle of wholeness. We do this through family partnership and meeting each child where they are. Our role is to come alongside you and your child to support and encourage growth and connection. Our approach is one that focuses on inquiry-based, child-led learning through play and exploration.
