Ages 3+
Explorers Nature Group is a child-led exploratory nature group for homeschool and preschool families. This program is offered as seasonal, month long sessions that meet once-a-week all of August, November, February, and May. Each week we will meet at Logsdon Valley Park in Leitchfield. Our immersive, three hour time is freely structured so that children can lead the way through their discoveries and play. To foster curiosity, there is a short nature study and/or story, guided nature journaling and/or nature craft.
A parent or caregiver must stay with their child(ren) to help support. Our facilitator, Ms. Katie, guides the groups adventures and models exploration and wonder as we lean into the beauty of our natural surroundings.
By committing time to get outside with others, we hope to inspire a growing care and appreciation for nature. We meet rain or shine, unless the weather is severe. Younger siblings are welcome to join but must be able to keep up or be in a carrier. This is not a stroller friendly location.
Logsdon Valley Park offers a spring fed creek, a 1.5 mile trail, rock formations, and a rich natural environment. The park is conveniently located in the middle of Leitchfield.
-Must be able to walk a good distance on uneven terrain
-Embrace the mud and dirt, as long as children are being safe we hold no restrictions on their play
-Children must be able to follow instructions and basic safety rules
-Agree to join us no matter the weather, preparing to have the right gear ahead of time for you and your child
